Charro beans

Is it a side dish? Is it a dip? You choose! All we know is that pinto beans with ham, bacon, and pork rinds are delicious!

Ingredients

    Charro beans:

    • 1 cup Southern Recipe Pork Rinds, crushed
    • 1 lb Pinto beans, prepared
    • 2 garlic, Minced
    • 4 cups Water
    • 2 Tbsp. Lard
    • 1/2 lb Ham, diced
    • 1/3 lb Bacon, cooked and chopped
    • 1/2 Onion, chopped
    • 3 Serrano peppers, chopped
    • 1/2 lb Pork chop, diced
    • Cilantro, as topper
    • Salt to taste

Preparation

1. Place beans, onion, garlic, and salt in a large pot.

2. Cover with water and cook for 8–10 minutes.

3. While beans cook, melt lard in a skillet.

4. Fry bacon, diced onion, peppers, ham, and pork chop for 10 minutes.

5. Add fried ingredients to the pot with beans.

6. Mix in Southern Recipe Pork Rinds.

7. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 5 minutes.

8. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.

9. Serve hot.
