Charro beans

Is it a side dish? Is it a dip? You choose! All we know is that pinto beans with ham, bacon, and pork rinds are delicious!


    Charro beans:

    • 1 cup Southern Recipe Pork Rinds, crushed
    • 1 lb Pinto beans, prepared
    • 2 garlic, Minced
    • 4 cups Water
    • 2 Tbsp. Lard
    • 1/2 lb Ham, diced
    • 1/3 lb Bacon, cooked and chopped
    • 1/2 Onion, chopped
    • 3 Serrano peppers, chopped
    • 1/2 lb Pork chop, diced
    • Cilantro, as topper
    • Salt to taste


Place beans, onion, garlic and salt in a large pot. Cover with water and cook for 8-10 minutes. While beans cook, melt lard in a skillet and fry bacon, diced onion, peppers, ham and pork chop, cook for 10 minutes.

Add the fried ingredients into the pot, mix in Southern Recipe Pork Rinds and bring to a boil for 5 minutes.

Add chopped cilantro on top before serving.
